Think you might be mistaken. Don't think ditch has ever been rendered. Drain has. Will have a look at adding it if you give examples.

Only one line (line 446) in applications/rendering/mapnik/inc/layer-water.xml.inc has to be changed back:

current: where waterway in ('weir','river','canal','derelict_canal','stream','drain')

correct: where waterway in ('weir','river','canal','derelict_canal','stream','drain','ditch')

That should be a very easy fix.
