I have the same problem. It is impossible to log in, and no cookies are stored in my browser (I do not block cookies for the domain).

Note that this is not a problem with the username or password, since I get an error message if I enter wrong username/password.

When you visit http://www.openstreetmap.org/diary/, it looks like you are not logged in, even when you are. You can confirm that you still are logged in by clicking on the view tab and going back to the map.
