A suggestion: rather than having an "add tag" button (which is on the opposite side of the screen to where tags get entered, so is not very ergonomic) how about always having a "spare" row in the tags list. So if you add a node or way or select a node or way with no tags, you'd get a single blank row, and whenever you fill in a row, a new one magically appears.
