Although it is possible that two streets cross each other without having a common node (i.e. bridges), more often, it's a mistake. It might look OK when rendered, but routing engine will give incorrect results in such a way. It would be nice if maplint will reveal such errors.

maplint is obsolete. There are several other check tools out there, maybe this can be build into one of them.
