Osm2pgsql.exe is an excellent utility for Windows users willing to use OSM data with desktop GIS or through servers like MapServer or GeoServer. The current version of osm2pgsql.exe (from February 2008) has still some limitations. I would like to see the following enhancements:

  1. Support for giving PostGIS hostname, port, username and password as connection options. Now the default values are used always.

  2. Possibility to select which OSM tags are to be imported. Now they are hardcoded.

Linux version of osm2pgsql seems to have both these features already.

If change to API 0.6 means that current version will stop working then my third wish is to get support for the new API.

There is no "linux version" or "windows version". What is in our repository is source code which, as you say, already contains these features. If you wish to compile that on windows then we're not going to stop you.

If you are referring to some precompiled windows binary that you have obtained then you need to whoever provided about them building a more recent version.

Sorry, obviously trac is not meant for this kind of wishes and project does not aim at making and maintaining precompiled Windows binaries. I cannot compile anything myself but I will try to find and contract somebody to do the job again.
