Xapi is a good service it would be even better if you could always reach a sane server at xapi.openstreetmap.org, so users don't have to care about which of the servers works at this moment.

Is xapi redirecting at this moment? or should I do this:

  • stupid cron job that checks availability on all xapi servers
  • a file called hosts.xapi
  • a Visual Basic CGI script at xapi.osm.org that redirects you the server that is needed

The existing xapi.osm.org is no longer maintained. JXAPI implements most of the XAPI interface and is currently hosted at jxapi.osm.org or open.mapquest.com.
