Potlatch intentionally uses system fonts, not embedded ones, so that any international characters installed by the user are available.
Unfortunately, Linux Flash Player uses a fat ugly Verdana-like font for '_sans', rather than the more elegant Helvetica/Arial of the Windows/OS X players. This means that something that fits on other systems wont fit on Linux.
The solution is for certain UI elements to adjust their width according to the textfields textWidth property. This is the same issue as #1047 so Ill close this.

This is speculation, but under Linux when in Practice Mode, it appears to be using a default font, and reads "Practice Mo" before being clipped.
It looks like a similar font is used for the tag names.
