When creating a way/area for each node added dock's increase horizontally automatically without ability to decrease their size (looks like their "minimal" horizontal size is increased). Thus after placing 40-50 nodes (depending on screen resolution/size) there is only a tiny area for an actual map left.
It is possible to decrease the size of dock's only after restarting merkaartor (but it will increase again after adding new nodes).

I've noticed it on two separate machines both using Fedora10, KDE desktop (with all latest updates).

Using fedora merkaartor package version 0.12-2.fc10

This is due to a bug in Qt 4.4.3 with the "Plastique" style.

To solve, apply a different style to Qt or start Merkaartor with a "-style" command line.

I'll add a builtin style to circumvent this, but is not a Merkaartor problem.
