Within the settings, I can select to cache background tiles. There is prefilled directory ~/.QMapControlCache and cache size set to 0. If I increase the cache size up to 99 MB (btw, why so little?), the tiles are still not cached. (Even after application restart.) Merkaartor creates the specified directory, but it leaves it empty, and the tiles are always re-downloaded from the network. This is very annoying, as the tiles are redrawn and thus redownloaded each time the zoom changes, the position moves etc. and it is very slow (due to server side, creating unnecessary load on it; the network I use isn't the bottleneck ...)
(Merkaartor 0.12 on Gentoo with Qt 4.4.2)
