I've searched for some FIS guidelines or similar on how to depict different grooming on a ski map, without much success. Please see the attached PNG or SVG for a mockup on how I see my first suggestion.

I fear that the dashed lines get confused with borders. The borders are thinner and lighter (f9574b vs c00000) but I still find it confussing. Other thoughts?

Consider this an idea only, as I'm not ready to advocate this idea yet:
At zoom 13 and 14 all groomed ski-trails (e.g. piste:grooming=classic|skating|scooter) can be continuous red lines (as currently implemented). Keep them thin.
From zoom 15, these can show as double lines, where one is continuous, and the other using different dashing or dots to depict the type of grooming.
A weakness here is obviously that backcountry ski-trails would be useful at least on zoom 14. Another that double lines may be visually disturbing.
Another idea that came up during the recent days, is whether to depict grooming priority with different line widths. See the wiki page link above for more info on those thoughts.

Use different dashing on piste:type=nordic based on piste:grooming=*, where
the dashing opens more as the skiing-trail grooming quality goes down.
Solution one:
-----
: piste:grooming=classic (same when piste:grooming is missing)-----
: piste:grooming=classic;skating (no difference)----
: piste:grooming=skating---
: piste:grooming=scooter-
: piste:grooming=backcountry (route=ski can be rendered this way also).Or, two, use small
\/
-symbols to depict grooming for freestyle/skating and|/
for a combined classic and skating track:-----
: piste:grooming=classic (same when piste:grooming is missing)-----
: piste:grooming=classic;skating (no difference)--<--
: piste:grooming=skating---
: piste:grooming=scooter-
: piste:grooming=backcountry (route=ski can be rendered this way also).See also http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Piste_Maps#Grooming
