Polygon areas tagged as riverbank should not render the names at all. Currently the name is rendered at the balance point which results in names of winding rivers being rendered on land. See the two appearances of "Elbe":

Virtually all rivers tagged with their riverbanks as polygons are mapped with a linear way tagged as waterway=river with the river's name which should be rendered following along that way instead of the riverbank's one.
