I think it would be great if one could see some Information about the GPS traces, when working with Potlatch and the 'Show GPS tracks' option.
It would be interesting to differentiate between own and foreign tracks, and to who was/is responsible for a trackand how this track is called
This could improve map quality dramatically. I have uploaded hundreds of tracks for Malawi and unfortunately sometimes there are foreign tracks with various quality in the same area. It is then difficult for ne to decide, which are mine (of which I know the quality) and not.

It's an interesting idea but certainly, in the past, people have had privacy concerns about this - i.e. it makes it very easy to find where someone has been. I think you'd need to talk this through on the talk[at]openstreetmap.org mailing list before we could go any further.
To tell the difference between your own tracks and others, just hold Shift when clicking the GPS button - that will load your own tracks only.
