We know perfectly well how to do it, we have just chosen not to do so at the moment. There are limits to how much stuff we want to overlay on the map and the benefit here is very small when considered against the cost of having something else cluttering up the map.

This has been discussed before. This is a techy thing that you don't want to ovewhelm new users with. You can get the lat lon from the permalink. If you want the lat lon printed on the map use the http://www.informationfreeway.org/ or make your own slippy map.

Add some sort of Lat/Lon display. Simplest would probably be something along the lines of http://www.openlayers.org/dev/examples/click.html
