Reopened with the wish to be rendered at least at zoomlevel 6-8 too - the reason is the same as original ticket. For now big rivers only show up at zl6-8 when tagged as natural=water.

waterway=riverbank is only shown on z10 and higher. When zooming out to z9 it disappears, but it's still a close enough zoom that you can notice.

Look at the river in the center, just to the east of where it splits in two, roughly between the currently rendered placenames 'Werkendam' and 'Gorinchem'.
I'd argue that waterway=riverbank could be shown at the same zoom levels as natural=water.
