make users choose which editor to use on "EDIT" / map. Currently there is just potlatch. As it doesn't require extra installs (besides Flash) this used to have it's reason, but for some time there is JOSM-remote-control which could enable JOSM-users to use the convenient EDIT-button also for them.

I think "make" is rather strong - a better word would be to "allow" users to choose an alternative editor. Potlatch (for the time being) should still be the default as 99.9999% of visitors to the site will have flash installed and while a tiny number of users will have JOSM installed and running with the remote control plugin enabled.
