Hi developers,
for a future proof way to read informations from gpsd you should use the header files/libraries of gpsd, at least on the systems where they're available. The data structures will change again at some point in the future, so parsing the output may fail pretty much. libgpsmm should provide everything you need to connect to gpsd from C++ programs.
Cheers,
Bernd

Based on a recent discussion in #gpsd on freenode it seems that libgpsmm should be rewritten or at least modified to bring it into a better shape for c++. One of the marble developers is around there, too - it would probably make sense if you could take care of the problem together, as both projects would benefit from a proper gpsd binding.
