I got very depressed by the easiness of selections to be gone in Merkaartor, the basic problem hits you when making a selection and clicking just outside of an object. But the problem also seems to appear if Merkaartors near object detection is slower than the click.

I would propose that when shift is pressed, a selection can NEVER be lost.

Not fixed in latest SVN. I can still click on a white area that unselects my entire selection and randomly loose my selection.

Next to that I also see that when in move mode and suddenly a strange click will move the line, as if it was dragged... [maybe secondary bug]
