Another problem, that I remarked while removing a way without deleting the nodes:

Pressing "r" or "R" after clicking first a node of a way with tags and an empty wayless node after it doesn't transport the tags of the first node to the second one, so it also wasn't possible to "save" the values of the nodes of this way to remove to new nodes...

Also copying tags form single nodes (POIS) to nodes part of a way isn't possible.

Sometimes I also wish to transfer tags from nodes to ways or vice versa.

That is mostly unusual, I know.

But sometimes it might be valuable:
If I want to expand something, that is mapped only as POI yet, to a way or area, then the way should get the tags of the node.
Or I want to copy tags from something mapped as area (building, parking, ...) to a similar object only mappable as point yet...

Might be Ctr-r/R should be defined as "copying tags for unusual actions like node <-> way or single node <-> node of way"?

There'll be a method to copy tags from one object(e.g. way) to another of a different type (e.g. POI) in the next version of Potlatch, though not with the R key.
