Description

"Base layer" and "Overlays" come as defaults with openlayers, but they might be translatable.

Layer names for sure can be made translatable.

OpenLayers? is already being translated (http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:OpenLayers) so if you want to translate any of the builtin text I suggest doing it there.

Translating our layer names is certainly possible, but might be tricky as many of them are set in pure javascript files that aren't processed by rails at all.

What about it? Yes, that's where the data from translatewiki gets checked in, but I don't see what is important about that. OpenLayers? translations get checked into the OpenLayers? repo and then become part of OL releases and get used on our site.

BTW the reason why none of the other languages supported by OL 2.7 are currently showing up on the site is that the default OL build only includes the English resources. I will need to create a custom OL build to get the others.

I've now deployed a custom OpenLayers? build with extra languages added.
