I've tried to insert a comma-below diacritic sign on a building name in OSM using the editing engine from the site. The text appear as ? (question mark). If I copy-pasted the sign from another place, the sign appeared correctly as . This should be fixed as soon as possible to allow the correct input of names in Romania for people using Linux or recent versions of Windows.

After it was processed, the name appeared correctly: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=44.43663&lon=26.0486&zoom=17&layers=B000FTFT

I marked the bug as critical because it makes editing very difficult using modern operating systems and can lead to big errors.

Potlatch simply uses Flash Player's text input routines. The bug is in Flash Player, not Potlatch. Fixing bugs in Flash Player is not really within my remit and usually not possible.

There is a special fix implemented in Potlatch for Unicode input in Linux Flash Player because Adobe proved incredibly recalcitrant at fixing the bug themselves (Adobe bug FP-40, http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-40). However, this fix took a very long time to implement and I am not keen on revisiting it.

It is said to have been fixed for some circumstances in Flash Player 10.1. I do not have Linux nor Windows so cannot test.
