I searched for the village "Dorfchemnitz" and was disappointed for the first time by the otherwise great Nominatim. It gave two results among which the looked for village didn't show up. Namefinder and GeoNames gave three results with the one missing in Nominatim (http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=50.762670&mlon=13.444161&zoom=13)

The node (http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/240057018) is labeled 'Dorfchemnitz bei Sayda' not 'Dorfchemnitz'. Nominatim only progresses on to partial matches if a search for exact matches fails to return a result.

If Dorfchemnitz is the commonly used name you can add it to the node as common_name:Dorfchemnitz or loc_name:Dorfchemnitz

I'm currently testing a 'more' link option which would extend the search when the initial search didn't find the required option.

Partial search works now for a single word, so above example will be found. It does not work for multiple words, e.g. "St. Anne by the bushes" will not turn up in a search for "St. Anne".
