Since the recent change from shift-clicking ways to merge them to control-clicking to merge them, you can no longer merge ways using Potlatch on a Mac because control-clicking isn't sent to Flash (it's converted to a right-click).

Command-click works. I write Potlatch on a Mac. :)

I did rather hope that someone was going to update the docs, but hey.
