Hello,
as started discussing in [2595], it would be cool to have tiles instead of one big image as background when using a WMS. This would let the user move the viewport around without waiting for background downloading, zooming in/out without re-downloading everything, and so on.
Chris Browet said that this could be difficult with a not-known projection; I believe that it could be offered as an option to WMS servers with common projections. A couple of implementations could be provided (say, EPSG:4326 and EPSG:31370), with others being added whenever there's a reasonable number of requests from the users.
Thanks!
David
