Select the Area select tool and drag across any area of the map, there does not have to be data in the area. The following ways are always spuriously selected:
The Kingsway
Hotham Rd
King Georges Rd
The Kingsway
Kingsway
They are all valid road names in the city of Sydney (the location of the map) but in different areas. A way for "King Georges Rd" can be found at lat -33.9337 lon 151.0730. Strangely, downloading the data for just around this way, does NOT duplicagte the error.
Variations:
Repeating the above process but using different download min/max lat/lon did NOT duplicate the error - therefore I suspect it is something to do with the data in this specific locality rather than perhaps something in my personal preferences.
Lastly, thank you very much for making JOSM available. Much appreciated!!
