I think there should be a way to specify which attributes I actually want in the result.

For example for a node, I am usually not interested in the user, timestamp, version or changeset.

Also, I don't need tag elements I have actually set a predicate for.

E.g. when I search for all nodes that have a railway=tram tag set, I don't need that information repeated in all nodes that are being returned.

Closing as this relates to the old XAPI which is no longer maintained. The new jxapi can be found at https://github.com/iandees/xapi-servlet and issues should be reported there.

I believe overpass API has an element to restrict the metadata returned
