Volcanos could be rendered at the same zoomlevels as natural=peak, but with red triangle instead of a brown one (at least that's what I did in the JOSM display) and also a red label.

Currently natural=volcano is not rendered on the mapnik layer. This is especially ugly for areas where lot's of volcanos exist, e.g. Lanzarote:
