Even with the latest SVN code there still appears to be some freezes during the download process, specifically during the downloading unresolved step.

For an example try downloading
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=-33.6741&lon=151.2843&zoom=13&layers=B000FTF with Resolve all relations on.

Moving the re-enabling of virtual node updates as per the attached patch to after the download unresolved step in ImportOSM.cpp seems to resolve the problem.
