See http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=28.95158&lon=-81.25651&zoom=15&layers=B000FTF for an example; the westbound exit has the ref, but the eastbound exit has the name, even though both are tagged identically. Zoom out two levels and exit 108 (two interchanges to the south/west) only has the name. The name is really not that important when there's a ref; almost any paper map will show the exit numbers but not the names. At the minimum the ref should always be shown if present.

This, and other subtle text positioning changes, have to do with the new version of mapnik. I'll go through the stylesheet soon to correct this. On the other hand, it could be an original bug, in which case I'll have a closer look at that point.

I noticed multivalue name=* tags in your Florida example area. The patch breaks on ; and puts each on a new line. However, long names now no longer break, due to this. This would need to be addressed in the mapnik software.
