Please consider applying the attached patch - it adds support for finding the network proxy to use from libproxy http://code.google.com/p/libproxy/ if configured or Qt >= 4.5's QNetworkProxyFactory.

If using libproxy (or QNetworkProxyFactory on Windows) automatic proxy discovery and/or configuration can be supported. libproxy should also automatically honour defacto standards like the http_proxy environment variable.

If a custom proxy is configured in the prefs it is used in preference to any automatic configuration.
