The main OpenStreetMap website map offers four map types: Mapnik, Osmarender, Cycle Map, No Name. In my view, only one of these names, Cycle Map, will be intelligible to the average user.

Changing them is easy - coming up with better alternatives is the hard thing! So far nobody has ever managed to come up with anything.

The NoName layer was removed a while ago and recently Osmarender was removed and Mapnik was renamed to "Standard" which hopefully resolves this.
