After having drawn some very long ways with Potlatch, I would like to save them into the database. However, Potlatch first wants to download all OTHER ways before it starts to SAVE MY ways (which I have drawn with much personal effort). I would prefer if SAVING MY (user's) work had absolute PRIORITY instead of downloading the other garbage. All downloads from the database should be stopped immediately after pressing the SAVE button in order to accelerate SAVING of my work, download may be continued after successful saving.

Sorry for my resentment after being in risk of losing my work of about 30-45 minutes.

Potlatch 1 is not currently under active development, and certainly major-league surgery on the save/load functionality is not envisaged.

Save and load operations can, and do, work at the same time. You do not have to wait for loading to finish before saving. But to be honest it looks like you're viewing such a vast area that P1 is always going to struggle; if you want to view so much stuff on-screen at once, P1 is not the editor to use.
