This is low priority..
Instead of just having an "export" button, when you choose XML-data in the export tab on the website, it should display a clickable link to the API call.

I like clicking links more than pressing buttons, because you see what you get. That's why it "should".
Problem with this is that clicking links usually means something will be loaded, which means you will be taken from the export tab, unless there is somekind of javascript that opens up a new window.
Ticket #3284 is related to this I guess, this ticket would show the bbox= for other applications and provide a link.

So instead of a "export" button it should say:
"http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/map?bbox=27.4832,53.8634,27.5508,53.9032"
