Discussion

Ways An ice_rink could be a way representing a skate path on a river or canal (examples, Ottawa's Rideau Canal Skateway, Winnipeg's River Trail)

building=yes/no Presumably building=yes is an arena with a rink inside, while building=no represents the edges of ice, whether they have a defined curb or wall, or not.

seasonal=yes/no Perhaps a seasonal rink can be rendered with dashed outlines or cross-hatched area. A seasonal rink may occupy part or all of a summer feature, such as a park, pedestrian plaza, basketball court, pond, lake, river, etc.

In Canada, many community centres have semi-permanent boards surrounding an outdoor hockey rink which is used only in winter.
