I have added a police station which consists of an area (defined by a way) and several buildings. Mapnik shows the buildings (which are not tagged as police station but just left as plain buildings) but the area, which has the tag of 'amenity=police', does not show. I think it would be a considerable improvement if the area were shaded to highlight it. While somebody currently has deleted the example above and replaced with a single node,
I would support the rendering. I could imagine to adopt the diagonal hatching style we have for military areas/barracks, just in a neutral grey that blends with residential landuse.
