#3631 new enhancement

Usability: Discoverability of adding additional node in way is low

Description

Adding a node in an existing way is probably a high-likelihood activity. Yet at present it is non-discoverable, requiring a keyboard shortcut (Shift).

This non-discoverability is made worse because, when a way is selected, and Shift pressed, no indication is given of this, e.g. a half-shaded 'ghost' point (that roughly follows the mouse position) or something like that.

As there is no current action assigned to assigning double-click while mouseovering an existing line, adding this while retaining the current Shift-click behaviour may be possible.

Can't you take inspiration from other interfaces, where when selecting an existing geometry, 'ghost' points appear in the middle of each line segment. If the user selects and drags such a ghost point out, then it becomes a real new point.
