When a node segment is split by inserting a node both segments wind up point at the new node (ie in opposite directions to each other). Both segments should wind up point the same way as the one that was split (one to the new node and one away from it) so that you don't wind up with a way with some segments reversed.

Reopening, as the behaviour persists. It's most noticable for one-way streets (including roundabouts).
