as discussed on the German mailinglist, many users are not content with the current accept/decline buttons.

They would like to choose between at least 4 different options:

  • 0 - I consider my data as public domain

  • (de: "ich erlaube die uneingeschrnkte Nutzung meiner Daten")

  • 1 - I accept ODbL and the new CT

  • (de: "ich stimme dem Lizenzwechsel zu")

  • 2 - I dislike the new license, but I will accept a majority decision

  • (de: "ich lehne dem Lizenzwechsel ab, aber ich akzeptiere die Mehrheitsentscheidung aller aktiven Teilnehmer")

  • 3 - I don't accept ODbL and I want my data to become deleted

  • (de: "ich widerspreche dem Lizenzwechsel und ich wnsche, dass meine Daten gelscht werden")

Many mappers are missing the options 0 (decline, but PD) and 2 (decline, but no deletion). It would be great if LWG and developers would add them.

Currently, a delayed shift from Accept to PD (though I don't currently intend to shift) or a combination of Decline and PD is technically impossible. In future, shifting to a lower level should be technically enabled.

This is a matter for the LWG so you should take it up with them - changes to the terms page are not something that I can make except on instruction from them.

They can be reached as legal[at]osmfoundation.org if you wish to discuss this.
