How can I tell Nominatim to always report nearest road? #3723

Author: pere[at]hungry.com Another thing that would make the nearest road feature more useful for fiksgatami, would be if the search would return information about the N nearest roads. This is useful when several roads cross each other or there are tunnels below other roads. At the moment the information returned by Nominatim is too inaccurate to depend on, and we include it in the messages to the municipalities on a "in case it is useful" basis. |

I use Nominatim with www.fiksgatami.no to report information about the nearest road to the councils receiving reports from the site (this is the norwegian www.fixmystreet.com).
This works reasonably well when a location lookup in nominatim report information about a nearby road, but for some locations no road information is returned.
A search that only return a node is this:
http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/reverse?format=xml&zoom=16&lat=59.90608&lon=10.52355
A search that return a road is this:
http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/reverse?format=xml&zoom=16&lat=59.430144&lon=5.260994
I would like to always get information about the nearest road, also for the first search.
