What: Potlatch should read the attribution information from the API and display it somewhere.

Why: Would mean that attribution is required to be added in the surrounding html, which could mean it doesn't get added, or wouldn't be possible if potlatch is compiled in such a way that it is not surrounded by html (eg AIR for mobile devices eg Android or iOS)

2 suggested locatons

  1. could go in the bottom middle of the map - that way it wouldn't conflict with the Bing logo on the left and the Bing copyright on the right
  2. add it to the same textfield that contains the Bing copyright

Why: Currently attribution is required to be added in the surrounding html...

Do you have a good reason for thinking that, in Potlatch's primary use case, the large OSM logo in the corner of the screen and the word "OpenStreetMap" below it isn't good enough?

Potlatch compiled on iOS? Are you on crack? Even if Adobe come up with a competent AS3+Flex compiler for iOS, which really clearly isn't going to happen in the next 27 years, how the fuck are people going to use Potlatch with a fucking touch-screen? How do you shift-click on iOS? Do you even have an iOS device? I do and I have no fucking idea how you could ever use Potlatch on it without rewriting the entire fucking codebase.

For fuck's sake. Stop wasting our time with this shit. You seem to think that it might be worth one of the, oooh, two Potlatch developers spending some time on addressing this in preference to, I dunno, fixing the bug that causes Potlatch to hang when you do a really trivially reproducable set of actions when drawing a map. You know, drawing a map. The thing that Potlatch is actually written for. Rather than licence wanking.

Either submit a patch or get the fuck out of here.

Ok, I really really shouldn't post to trac or mailing lists or in fact be let anywhere near a computer when I've just come back from the pub.

Sorry. I do think it's a silly suggestion and it's a wontfix but that was really a bit of an OTT reaction. Apologies.
