[admin] Rendering boundary names inside area look sometimes odd

Reported by: Loth Owned by: mapnik-team@…
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: mapnik Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Depending on the zoom level, you see the boundary name somewhere in an free area of the mapnik chart, but not the according border line. And it is not easy for a normal user to identify for what this name stands. You may only see the name, if you go to a border line in an higher zoom level and read the name in the border line.

My proposal for improving:

  • easy: write the boundary name in the area with boundary line color, so it gives an hint to what it belong.
  • better/additional: write only area names in lower zoom levels, where parts of the boundary line is seen on the screen, not so easy because it depends on the screen size.

Is this still an issue?

I think boundary names are no longer written in the area with the removal of the area catchall rendering. So I think this is solved now.
