I wondered why I did not get any responds to reported tickets because I missed to add me to cc:

It is really unexpected that the reporter is not added to cc: automatically and many reporter will not get informed about comments, questions and changes.

Maybe an updated of trac to version 12.2 (JOSM trac) would be nice, too.

I suspect that the reason is that you are logging in with your username, not your email, so trac will have no idea what your email address is.

We use the trac packaged with our operating system, so modulo some critical requirement to upgrade it separately no update will occur until the next Ubuntu LTS release.

But my username is connected with my email address and trac knows about me as user and my pw, but not my email address ?

I do not want to offer my email addresses on all the pages.

What reason can you tell me to use a user then ?

I only can tell you that the josm trac is much more userfriendly and has several extra options, but I might dig in a bit deeper and report them one by one in tickets.

We use apache external authentication to validate you against the main OSM web site, but that offers no way for us to return additional information to apache (and hence to trac) so all it knows is the username you used.

Please don't waste your time telling me that trac version X.Y has fabulous feature Z. I'm really not interested. We have enough work to do as it is without maintaining a local installation that isn't packaged.

Is it not possible to mail a user through the main web site ?

What does that have to with anything?

Yes of course the main site knows the user's email, but what I was trying to explain is that there is no way that I can see to provide that information to trac.

Trac knows the username, so maybe it is possible for trac to mail the user using the main site without knowing the real mail address.
