Just an idea concerning usability: I'd like to see a background osm map when viewing the animation of a single GPS trace - similar to http://gpslib.net/tracks/.
That would simplify the decision, whether the GPS track is worth to download or not. Looking at the naked track animation gives no hint at all where the track is on earth and clicking on the map link just opens a small zoomlevel=14 part of the track. So one has to download the whole track and open it in an external application to get to know where the track is. BTW: The track animation itself may look nice but is actually of no use.
The background images could be static if dynamic means too much server traffic...
Same idea could even apply to 'GPS Traces' tab listing the traces.

I think this is a good idea. I can see some problems with maintaining the background map images as time progresses (and the data changes, and the stylesheets change, as the years go by.
However, this request is not a priority. Since we don't have any plans to implement this feature request in the foreseeable future, I'm closing this ticket.
