Please add a link to OSM forum to the openstreetmap.org sidebar (a place where "Help Centre" and "Documentation" and other links are). Forum is very important for community communication and can handle requests than "Help centre" can not - for instance "soft" feature requests from users, that are to tech savvy enought to fill a bug into Trac. Also, a forum can handle broader discussion on particular topic which again the help site cant. Thanks.

Space on the homepage is very precious at the moment so, pending a redesign of the site, we have a general policy of not adding anything.

This is especially true here where if we added a link to the forums we would also have to add a link to the mailing lists, which are arguably more important.

Sure, yes, so do add a link to both. I see plenty of space for both. The links end aproximately around pixel #500 counted from the top of screen, and min. vertical resolution of devices that may still have a reasonable traffic share is 768px for netbooks.

You're almost certainly logged in though - everything is pushed further down when you are not logged in as there is extra information in the sidebar. There are also other notices which appear from time to time and push things even further down.

I would rather replace the "mailing lists" link with a link to a general page with information on communication channels than add extra links.

You are of course free to provide a patch and if there is a consensus among the developers that it should be merged then we will do so.

The equivalent of the side bar now is http://www.openstreetmap.org/help which does have a link to the forums.
