Concerning your ticket
http://trac.openstreetmap.org/ticket/4107

Is it possible to see my 'score' online?

It would be nice if a user gets a personal message whenever he has reached, let's say, 75% or 80% of the threshold.

No, there is no way to see the score, nor will there be. It's not a game where you try and hover just under your limit.

The aim is that any ordinary mapper should not be affected by this at all - only people in the top 1% or less should be affected and they are normally trying to scrape data rather than actually edit.

Occasionally people that are editing do get affected, normally when they work their way along a linear feature over a long distance rather than editing a single area. We are actively seeking solutions for that, such as relaxing the limits for logged in users.

Sending a message is not possible because we don't know who the user is as map requests are not authenticated. Once they are (optionally) we will most likely relax the limits for logged in users rather than send them messages.
