Something has changed recently which has affected printing (I have tested this with latest Firefox and Opera on Windows 7). I used to get the area I wanted to print a map of visible on screen and use the browser option to print to print it (specifying just page 1, as that was always the bit with the map I wanted on). Recently this now only has some text about the licence and the openstreetmap.org url on the first page (and in Firefox a blank page 2). No map. As a workaround I've been exporting the image and printing that, though it takes longer and at least on Windows export only seems to have ever worked in Firefox, but that's an issue I'm not particularly bothered about...
