Usability: Potlatch2 + TrackPad Problems

Reported by: petzlux Owned by: potlatch-dev@…

Description

Having run another novice mapping party, one important observation was that using Potlatch2 with a trackpad introduces problems.

For example, when creating a blank POI, the user would need to doubleclick to create the point.

Now what happens with trackpads (especially Macbook ones where you have to physically depress the trackpad for a click), is that there would be a slight movement introduced between the two clicks.

Problem:
Potlatch2 doesnt seem to recognise a double-click to create a POI if the mouseposition changes between clicks, instead going into line creation mode. This confuses especially novice users, who don't then know how to cancel this unwanted behaviour.

Solution:
Introduce a tolerance for position changes between clicks where a POI is still created.

Another solution would be to plug a mouse into your laptop. That's what I've done and I haven't had a problem ever since. :)
