Certainly not difficult maths-wise. I don't think it's mainstream enough to want to show to every user by default, but it could happily live in the optional lat/long display.

When a way is selected, it would be nice to somewhere show its length in real terms.
Use cases:
We could possibly incorporate distances into various alerts, confirmations etc ("way moved 520m").
Is this harder to do than I think? Pythagoras on spherical-projected points gives a pretty accurate answer, right?
