The scale at the bottom of http://www.openstreetmap.org/ shows one metric distance and one imperial distance. (Example: "20m / 100ft".) It would be useful if it also showed the *5 larger scale --- for example: "20m / 100ft / 100m / 500ft".
This will make it easier to estimate longer distance in the on-screen map.

It's a standard OpenLayers scale control, so this is outside our control and you would need to talk to OpenLayers upstream about making such an enhancement.
