You can still set Potlatch 1 to be your browser in your settings. Then you will be able to use Potlatch 1 by hitting edit, but not in the drop down.

Deliberate change, to stop people using it accidentally.

It's still available by editing the URL or changing your default editor.

For clarification and future reference when munging the url you use the editor of potlatch (not potlatch1) e.g.:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/edit?editor=potlatch&lat=51.71888&lon=-0.8441&zoom=17

Sounds like it could have been simply moved to the end of the list. This change simply makes it harder to tell others how to find deleted ways.

Not so bad, the removal of the option in menu. .. In essence one just needs to choose P2 and remove the number 2 after "potlatch" in the URL.
