#4671 new enhancement

Allow subscribing to user changeset feed using his UID

Reported by: Zverik Owned by: rails-dev@…

Description

Vandals like to change their usernames, so subscribing to changeset feeds by user name is not enough. User ID should be more accessible to regular users. There is no point of subscribing to user name when you can subscribe to user by his ID and track changesets forever, not just until he changes his name.

This is just a specific case of the general problem that our URLs don't use stable user identifiers and we shouldn't do anything about this without solving the general problem.

Now we just have to get people to agree on whether we should use the numeric ID or whether we should introduce some stable, unchangeable, text ID...

I understand this problem needs a big and heated discussion in mailing lists or elsewhere, but just for statistics I've created a poll: http://polls.cc/q35Mva/

I'm for any of the solutions, just not for letting it hang for another couple of years.

Knock yourself out, not sure what effect you think your "poll" will have, but feel free to waste your time on it.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
